On September 22, within the framework of the International Day without Car, the staff of the “Silk Road” University of Tourism supported the initiative of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan-Minister of Tourism and Sports, Rector of the University Aziz Abdukhakimov, and took an active part in a number of events.

It is worth recalling that according to the government decree, September 22 in our country is declared: “Car-Free Day”. This is the day when all motorists are invited to abandon the use of their vehicles for at least 24 hours and move on foot or by bicycle.

This will reduce the emissions of harmful gases into the atmosphere and thereby contribute to improving the environmental situation on the planet.

Today, it is impossible to completely abandon cars but you need to remember at least once a year about the problems that motor transport brings with it. This is the main idea of the annual Car-free Day.

During the event with the active participation of the leader of the club “Qizlarjon” of the Women's Council of the University Sh. Khamrakulova, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Norbaeva, visited the charity centre “Saxovat”. During the conversation, Tanzila Narbaeva had a sincere conversation with the elderly people living there, got acquainted with the conditions of the centre and thanked the students of the university for their kind initiatives and enthusiasm.

The Institute of Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research under the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan will hold XIII Forum of Economists via video conference on October 5, 2021 on "Strategic initiatives and practical recommendations for sustainable economic development: potential and risks."

Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education and the “Ulugbek” Foundation jointly published 3 collections of scientific works called "Talented Youth of New Uzbekistan" in order to support young people who are actively engaged in research in various fields of science.
To promote these collections among young people, an essay competition has been announced for students, doctoral students and young researchers. The winners will be awarded with diplomas and cash prizes.

The “Silk Road” International University of Tourism together with the Turkish Agency for International Cooperation and Coordination (TICA) held a competition “University through the eyes of a student” among students of 3-4 courses on September 10-16, 2021. The committee received 58 ESSAYs in English: “Why do I want to go to the Turkey?”. The essays were reviewed by the members of the competition commission, consisting of foreign professors and teachers working at the university.

According to the conclusion of the committee, the following 15 students were recognized as the winners of the competition and received the right to a free internship in Turkey:

On September 21 of this year, the world-famous figure of culture and art of the Netherlands Burhanettin Carlak replenished the University Library with author's books.

The presentation of the book “Oezbekistan” in Dutch was held in the assembly hall of the University.

“Uzbekistan is one of the most amazing countries in Central Asia. Indeed, everyone has heard about the Great Silk Road, but not everyone knows about the existence of stunningly beautiful cities yet. Being in the heart of the Great Silk Road, the International University of Tourism is a center for training highly qualified personnel," told Burhanettin Carlak.

It is worth noting that with the help of this book, university students will discover the beauty of the colourful Uzbek bazaars and rich farmers markets of Uzbekistan, combining both ancient and modern samples.

On September 20 of this year, at the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism hosted a solemn ceremony of awarding the title of Honorary Doctor of the University to Aziz Sanjar, a Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry, an outstanding Turkish and American biochemist, a member of the US National Academy of Sciences.

The award ceremony was opened by Aziz Abdukhakimov, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Minister of Tourism and Sports, Rector of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism, who in his welcoming speech noted that it is a great honor for the university to see such an outstanding person as Aziz Sanzhar among the Honorary Professors of the university.

   “It is a great honor for me to come to Samarkand, the center of the Great Silk Road, and visit the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism, whose main goal is to train highly qualified personnel in the field of tourism. Thank you for your invitation”, said Nobel Prize Laureate Aziz Sanjar.

Aziz Sanjar personally presented certificates to the students who entered the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism on a grant basis and wished them further success in their studies.

In the assembly hall of the University was held a guest lecture on “Knowledge and national revival in the Turkic world”. At the end of the lecture, the 3rd year student Isometdinov Islom asked the question: “When you were a student, where did you get your motivation from?”.

“I would like to note that the main motivation at the beginning of my student years for me was to gain knowledge by studying the works of our great ancestors, as well as thanks to the strong support of colleagues and members of my family . But I want to emphasize that studying and correcting mistakes is the main key to success,” Aziz Sanjar replied.

At the end of the visit, a tour of the university campus was organized for the guest of honor, special attention was paid to the ultramodern Library of the university, which Aziz Sanjar promised to supplement with scientific literature in the near future.

On September 17 of this year, representatives of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) paid a working visit to the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism.

Within the framework of the program “Support for economic reforms and sustainable economic development in the regions of Uzbekistan”, representatives of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) got acquainted with the educational and practical laboratories of the University. During the meeting in detail was discussed the program for the implementation of joint projects in scientific, technical and educational areas.

Special attention was paid to the issues of providing practical training for university students and further cooperation in the field of tourism.

It is worth noting that within the framework of international cooperation with Uzbekistan, GIZ supports reforms in the field of economy, health, education, in the field of natural resources protection, as well as the development of social and cultural integrations. Within the framework of economic development, the sphere of tourism development is of particular importance. At the same time, GIZ supports the reform processes through professional training programs leading to advanced training of managers.
