The Department of "Written and Oral Translation Studies" was established in September 2024 at the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. The department includes teachers from leading language departments who have undergone advanced training and internships in the field of translation and successfully combine teaching and translation activities. The department is headed by Akramova Takhmina Kamiljonovna, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor. The scientific interests of the teachers are mainly focused on the areas of communication theory, linguoculturology and translation didactics. The department pays particular attention to the translation of scientific, literary and other literature from Uzbek/Russian into English, Chinese, Korean and other foreign languages, and from world languages into the native language. Problems of translation theory in the studied languages and their practical solutions are carried out from the point of view of translation studies. In modern translation theory and practice, general trends, types and methods of translation, stages of translation development, categories of lexical-semantic and grammatical compatibility, types of translation by genre and the methods used in them, linguo-cultural and linguo-geographical characteristics of languages are studied. A number of teachers have international language certificates at the C1 level. Foreign specialists also carry out scientific and pedagogical activities at the department. The quality of education is ensured not only by the high qualification of the staff, but also by a good material and technical base. Students are trained in a computer class where oral translation classes are held. The class is equipped with listening devices, licensed electronic dictionaries and has unlimited Internet access. The professors and teachers of the department have organized clubs called "Bridge of Translators in Chinese" and "I am also a translator".
