Expanding the geography of negotiations. In touch with Scotland

On February 1st of this year, negotiations were held between the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and the University of Strathclyde, organized with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in London and the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development.

During the talks the sides discussed the possibilities and prospects of cooperation between universities with the aim of development of scientific and educational activities, projects, programs, seminars and scientific conferences, implementation of joint innovative projects, exchange of faculty and internships. The topic of double degree programs was also touched upon.

The Strathclyde Research University is located in Glasgow, Scotland. Founded in 1796 as the Anderson Institute, it is one of the oldest universities in the UK, as well as the third largest university in Scotland by number of students, with students and staff from more than 100 countries. Notably, in 1964, the University of Strathclyde was awarded a Royal Charter as the first technological university in the United Kingdom.

Strathclyde was awarded “University of the Year” in 2012 by the Times Higher Education and again in 2019, becoming the first university to receive the award twice in such a short space of time.
