Samarkand, July 6 – Within the framework of an info tour organized at the initiative of the Tourism Committee and with the support of Oman Air, leading tour operators and media representatives from the Sultanate of Oman became acquainted with the tourism potential of Samarkand. The guests also visited the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage “Silk Road”, which trains specialists in the fields of tourism and cultural heritage.

During the visit, the guests became closely acquainted with the activities of the University. Afterwards, a B2B business meeting was organized, during which direct negotiations were held between leading Omani tour operators and local tourism companies.

The meeting discussed the creation of new tourism products, the development of joint travel programs, and the promotion of pilgrimage, cultural, ecological, and family tourism. The guests highly appreciated Samarkand’s historical and architectural monuments, UNESCO-listed cultural heritage sites, modern hotels, transport and logistics system, and new tourism facilities.

This visit created a basis for taking practical steps toward establishing new cooperation between tourism business representatives of the two countries.
