On 17 June 2026, a meeting was held at the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center in Samarkand between the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage and a delegation from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), one of Malaysia’s leading higher education institutions.
The delegation was led by the Rector of UKM, Professor Dato Dr. Sufian Jusoh.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation in higher education, scientific research, and innovation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia. Particular attention was given to academic staff and student exchange programs, the development of joint educational initiatives, collaboration in research projects and international grants, as well as the organization of joint seminars, summer schools, and international conferences.
As a result of the negotiations, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
The Memorandum establishes a solid framework for expanding academic and scientific cooperation, implementing joint research activities, enhancing academic mobility, and promoting exchanges of students and faculty members.
This partnership marks an important step toward strengthening international collaboration, creating new educational and research opportunities, and contributing to the development of highly qualified professionals in the fields of tourism and cultural heritage.
