Today, on April 2, 2021 at the main football arena of the city – the “Dynamo” stadium took place the solemn part of the “Rector’s Cup” – the award ceremony of the winners. The athletes were personally congratulated by the rector of the University – A. Abdukhakimov.

As the rector of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism A.Abdukhakimov said:

“At some point, I thought that not ordinary students were competing here, but real athletes, everything was so bright and sporty! We were especially pleased with the football players who gave us a real fight for the championship!”

According to the results of the team competitions, the winners were:

Football:
1st place – “Sparta”;
2nd place – “Bad Guys”;
3rd place – “Eagles”.

Quest:
1st place – “Invisible”;
2nd place – “Elders”.

Badminton (pairs):
1st place – Abulkasimov Zhurabek and Olimgunova Sevara;
2nd place – Ziyoev Abdukarim and Akhmedjanova Diyora;
3rd place – Allayorov Olim and Mukhammadova Kamila.

From March 25 to 30 of this year, the “Silk Road” University hosted qualifying competitions within the framework of the “Rector’s Cup”. The competitions were held on the basis of the approved schedule, according to which 50 students were involved in badminton, 190 – football, 80 – chess, 71 – arm wrestling, 190 – quest, a total of 581 students were involved (86 of them are girls).

This sports tournament is organized in order to ensure the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 6099 of October 30, 2020 “On measures for the widespread introduction of a healthy lifestyle and the further development of mass sports”, the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 735 of November 19, 2020 “On measures to support a healthy lifestyle and increase physical activity”.

On April 2, the final stage of the “Rector’s Cup” was held at the main football arena of the city of Samarkand – the “Dynamo” Stadium. The final match between the football teams “Bad Guys” and "Sparta" was held here. Previously, the university held the finals in badminton, arm wrestling and chess.

The audience watched an exciting match, filled with bright moments. The full time of the match did not reveal the winners, the draw score “3:3” was on the scoreboard. Only penalty shootouts proved that the strongest team of the entire tournament is FC “Sparta”. It is noteworthy that the players of “Sparta” during the match lost to their opponents with a score of 0:2, however, the team fought to the last and deservedly became the champion of the tournament!

At the end of the football match, the official part of the program of the “Rector’s Cup” began – the award ceremony for the winners in all the sports presented, as well as the quest.

The final stage of the “Rector’s Cup” was held by the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism in cooperation with the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the regional administration.

At the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of foreign countries and representatives of the diplomatic corps in Uzbekistan visited the State committee for tourism development.

At the beginning of the meeting, Aziz Abdukhakimov expressed his sincere gratitude for the constant cooperation and efforts to comprehensively develop relations between the countries, including in the field of tourism, cultural heritage and sports.

The guests were informed about the work carried out by the Government of Uzbekistan to mitigate the consequences of the pandemic and support the tourism sector, rapid recovery and search for new growth points. Considering the fact that the safety of tourists is an important factor in a pandemic around the world, a presentation of the new system of sanitary and epidemiological security “Uzbekistan. The participants of the event were also familiarized with the activities of the Silk Road International Tourism University in Samarkand, created on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the library at the university.

At the end of the event, the parties discussed issues of further strengthening cooperation in the field of tourism, exchange of information on mitigating the consequences of the pandemic. Representatives of the diplomatic corps of foreign countries expressed their readiness to intensify cooperation on the discussed initiatives and projects.

The event was attended by ambassadors and diplomats from countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Japan, Israel, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Pakistan, India, Iran, R. Korea, Azerbaijan and Italy.

For reference: over the past three years, the Silk Road International University of Tourism in Samarkand has created the most innovative and modern education system in Uzbekistan, which significantly strengthened the position of the university and attracted foreign professors and teachers.
