GIZ together with the Iinternational Consulting Company Leo Impact begins the implementation of activities aimed at supporting 3 professional colleges of tourism and service, including assistance in the implementation of elements of the dual system

On March 2 this year, on the basis of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, was organized a round table meeting to discuss the implementation of measures to support professional tourism and service colleges, as well as discuss expected results and plan further steps.

This event was attended by the GIZ project manager, Ms. Beate Shorayt, International expert in the field of hospitality and sustainable tourism Maeve Obrine, representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, as well as leaders professional colleges of tourism and service in Andijan, Margilan and Khiva.

During this meeting, was organized an official ceremony to transfer specialized literature in the field of tourism to the library fund of professional colleges of tourism and service.

Within the framework of the GIZ project “Support for Economic Reforms and Sustainable Economic Development in Uzbekistan” together with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Uzbekistan, it is planned to implement measures to develop tourism in pilot regions in the following areas:

1. Support for 3 professional colleges of tourism and service, including assistance in the implementation of elements of the dual system

2. Development of a tourism development strategy in Karakalpakstan

3. Development of tourism in the Ferghana Valley:

− Community based tourism (CBT pilot project)

− Capacity building for service providers

− Promotion of the tourism potential of the Ferghana Valley

− Promoting the potential of handicrafts

Brief information about the project

The project “Support for Economic Reforms and Sustainable Economic Development in Uzbekistan” has been implemented since June 2021 and is currently working in 5 regions in such areas as the development of value chains in agriculture (organic fruit production, certification, fish farming, animal husbandry) cooperation with the Academy state Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the development of the tourism sector.
